Sword — Dream Meaning
Truth with an edge — swords mean justice, decisive words, investiture, and claims that cannot be forced one hour early.
What it means to dream about sword
A sword is the knife ennobled: truth, justice and division in a single blade, carried by heroes, judges and archangels. In dreams it is the cutting function at ceremonial scale — the word that divides truth from flattery, the decision that separates eras. Drawing a sword is commitment to a fight's terms; receiving one is investiture: a cause, an office or a lineage handing you its edge and its obligations together.
A broken sword is the cause in defeat or the warrior retired by fracture — folklore treats it with military honors rather than shame. Swords crossed are conflict formalized: duel, lawsuit, the argument conducted by champions. The sword in the stone is the tradition's favorite patience test: the rightful claim that cannot be forced one hour early, waiting for the hand it was made for.
Common variations
A sword in a stone
The patience test of kings: the rightful claim awaiting the hand it was made for — yours, on evidence the dream may be filing.
A broken sword
The cause in defeat, treated with honors: fracture as retirement papers, not disgrace.
Receiving a sword
Investiture: a cause or lineage handing you its edge and its obligations in the same gesture.
The psychological view
In Jungian terms the sword is discrimination — the mind's power to divide truth from its costumes, wielded consciously or not at all.
DreamDictionary readings draw on traditional folklore and modern dream psychology. They are prompts for reflection, not predictions — the feeling a dream leaves you with is usually its most honest part.
