Demon — Dream Meaning
The shadow, mythologized — demons mean affliction and temptation personified, bargains with itemized prices, and agencies lost and reclaimed.
What it means to dream about demon
A demon is the shadow with a mythology: temptation, affliction and inner opposition wearing the oldest costume in the wardrobe. In dreams it is rarely about theology and almost always about the arrangement between the self and its worst material — addiction given a face so it can be fought, rage enthroned, a temptation negotiating in a voice suspiciously like one's own but better dressed. Possession dreams are the loss-of-agency family's supernatural branch: the self watching its own hands from the passenger seat of its life.
Fighting a demon is the confrontation the chase dreams kept postponing, finally held at close quarters. Bargaining with one is the tradition's eternal scene — the terms dictated, the price itemized in the small print of the soul — and its moral is employable in any century: read what the wanting is actually offering to pay with. The demon that is banished by a name, a prayer or a slammed door is the psyche's exorcism of its own: often reported, always believed by the dreamer.

The psychological view
Therapists read demons as personified affliction — addiction, rage or despair given a face precisely so it can be confronted.
DreamDictionary readings draw on traditional folklore and modern dream psychology. They are prompts for reflection, not predictions — the feeling a dream leaves you with is usually its most honest part.
