Gun — Dream Meaning
Force at a distance — guns mean power, threat and escalation, prosecuted nightly by whose hand holds it and which way it points.
What it means to dream about gun
A gun is force at a new distance: the argument ended by mechanism, threat without the courtesy of proximity. In dreams it is power, fear and escalation in their modern form — and the dream's details prosecute the case: whose hand, which direction, whether it fires. Being threatened with a gun is vulnerability staged at maximum asymmetry: the self, out-argumented by hardware. Holding one is agency's shadow inventory: what you would do with a power that skips persuasion.
A gun that jams or will not fire is the threat deflated — dreamland's mercy on escalation fantasies, and its comment on certain kinds of preparedness. Guns in the hands of crowds, armies or children tune the reading to the collective. The dream gun going off by accident belongs to the catastrophe-of-carelessness family: consequences at trigger weight, the smallest motion with the largest invoice.
Common variations
Being threatened
Vulnerability at maximum asymmetry: the self out-argued by hardware, negotiating anyway.
A gun that won't fire
The threat deflated — mercy on escalation fantasies, and a comment filed on certain kinds of readiness.
An accidental shot
Carelessness at trigger weight: the smallest motion invoiced at the largest rate in the dream's economy.
The psychological view
Therapists read guns as escalated agency — power that skips persuasion, and the self's inventory of what it fears or wishes at trigger distance.
DreamDictionary readings draw on traditional folklore and modern dream psychology. They are prompts for reflection, not predictions — the feeling a dream leaves you with is usually its most honest part.
